Rebecca Callard acted for a 57 year old woman, who received £63,000 following dental treatment received between 1979 and 2011 from her general dental practitioner.  Despite being a regular attender, the defendant dentist failed to diagnose and treat periodontal disease.

The defendant did not take regular x-rays, the x-rays that were taken did show evidence of periodontal disease by way of bone loss and the defendant failed to identify and treat this. The defendant also failed to take heed of our client complaining of inflamed and bleeding gums and mobile teeth.

The Claimant has now been diagnosed with advanced chronic periodontitis and periapical periodontitis. She has lost 13 teeth as a result of the negligence and has undergone extensive non surgical and surgical periodontal therapy. She has had extensive restorative treatment, including implants.
